  • Texture baking examples

For the last 10-15 years, I've casually looked, on and off, at realtime rendering and VR. My thesis at uni was related to it.

I wondered if there is presently a 'good', easy to implement solution for navigating around a 3d building using texture baking through vray?

There have always been a number of options for viewing VRML worlds, but they are always quite complex to install (I am thinking from a clients point of view). If a 3d building could be viewed and walked around using flash or quicktime or acrobat reader, it would be ideal: something that doesn't involve very much/any extra programs.

The technology may well exist, and I wondered if somebody could point me in the direction of some good examples.

I want this to work for an absolute layperson with an average computer and an average graphics card. Is it possible? What is possible?

<I guess this could/should go in Off Topic - oops!>
    Kind Regards,

This comes up on a regular basis. So there's alot of info already on the forum to be searched. Not discouraging your question, just saying I've seen it come up alot so I know there's info for ya.

C'mon percydaman, obviously I have searched around the forum. If all questions/comments were responded to like this, it wouldn't be a very big forum. "I refer the speaker to my former response..." etc etc

(sorry for blunt response - obviously I've not had enough coffee today!)

tricky...I'm not skilled with realtime but I'm interested too so I follow the state of this art.

Here you can find some useful infos about 3d with PDF

                flatiron

                hello Tricky,

maybe Flatiron (http://flatiron.3d-plugin.com) could be what you are thinking of. It is 2-3 click solution to bake any scene into any map. In the upcoming version this week (1.5) with vray 4a support, the whole scene renders just in one pass, saving you +1000% time comparing to standard texture baking

As far as an engine, unity basic is now free, and super easy to use.
