Help with SSS or Translucency??

I was doing the http://www.vrayrender.com/stuff/MtlTutorial/ tutorial but the thing is that each time when it says that I'm suppose to check translucency it never actually get the effect. It goes alot faster to render so it doesn't seem to do anything. It turns of every refraction effect aswell.

Any suggestions??

Try to decrease the glossiness of the refraction
