  • VRay RT

    Hi

I have done a clean re-install of my computer which has my dongle attached to it.
VRay works 100% , but i don't see RT listed as an render option to use. (I did install it)
What else do i need to do?

    Thanks

It will only be listed as an ActiveShade renderer; can you check that the vray_rtmaxNNN.dlr is installed in the [maxroot]\plugins\vrayplugins folder?

    Best regards,
    Vlado

      Hi Vlado

I check for that file, but its missing. I asume I need to try again the installation process or is there something else i should do?

      Thanks
      Geo

Yes, you can try running the installation again.

          Hallo Vlado

I have run the installation two more times, but no success.

If I go to RT following the route - Start - Programs - Chaos and I click on Start the VRayRT server it works, in other words the DOS like window opens up and it say RT is ready. But I don't see RT at all in Max.

          Any further suggestions?

          Thanks

Did you install the version that corresponds to your version of Vray? If you don't your RT gets installed for render slave only (which you should see if you pay attention while installing) and then you can't see it as an active shade option. It happened to me recently when I tried installing a version of RT that was older than the Vray version I had installed.

              Hi Stefanie

I am running the latest version of VRay and I installed RT Sp1, I will quickly go look, but don't know if there is a later version of RT than that.

              Thanks

Yes, there is SP1a for RT.

                Hope it works!

Actually, thinking about it, Vlado, it might be very useful, if you guys could make it somehow a bit more clear which version of Vray goes whith which version of RT. It is a bit confusing.

Yes, there was some check in the installer that was not completely future-proof; this is fixed for newer builds, but unfortunately there is no way to go back and correct the mistake.

                    Best regards,
                    Vlado

                      Thanks Stefanie

I am sure this will fix things.

Sorry for the typo on your name the first time
