  • Instanciate problem

my scene had a large number of Instances, I read that there is a time saver if you use instanciate instead of replicate, but when I use instanciate VRay uses all the avaliable ram and then crashes after a coupple of hours (over network).

    System:
    Max5.1
VRay Advanced 1.09 (Haven't updated to the latest one yet)
    Windows XP

    any thoughts or comments?
    Cheers _Jay

Click on the "instanciate" in the render settings...you find it in the "system" rollout..

There was a bug where VRay would not free all data associated with instances from one frame to the next... this should be fixed in the latest 1.09.03x builds, but I'd advise you to wait for the next one before upgrading

        Best regards,

I doubt it since that is a max issue, Use the mirror modifier, it does not have the bug.

is it a max issue that mirrored instances render with no GI when using the instantiate oprion in Vray?
