  • Noisy rendering- need suggestions!

    Hi

I am working on this interior rendering of a supermarket. I am using a lot of glossy materials (chrome, glass, flooring) and seem to be getting a lot of noise on the glossy materials. Any ideas how I can reduce the noise?

And any ideas in general that would help this to look better?

I have attached the render and also my vray settings. The glossy materials have 16 reflection subdvs.

    Cheers

Have you tried unchecking Use light cache for glossy rays?

The lower the glossy values the more subdivisions you will need.

Here is a very rough estimate of the values I find that work well

      Glossy --0.99 to 0.96 = 8 subdivisions

      Glossy --0.95 to 0.90 = 16 subdivisions

      Glossy --0.89 to 0.85 = 24 subdivisions

      Glossy --0.84 to 0.80 = 32 subdivisions

      Glossy --0.79 to 0.70 = 44 subdivisions

      Glossy --0.69 to 0.50 = 50-60 subdivisions
      -----------------------------------------------------

      Some other things to note---

+Dark materials & high reflection value may need higher subdivisions also

+The higher the resolution you render the lower the settings you need

      Hope this helps

DMC samples are too low. go 2 and 10.
noise threshold is maybe a bit high. try .003 or .002
if the render is that size, you don't need such high gi samples. go with medium for irr and 700 for lc.
maybe your reflection samples on your reflective materials are too low. try 30+ on any glossy metal and on the floor.
my guess is its your material samples more-so than your render settings.
          i hope that helps.
