i know the upgrade to 1.1 is free. but i will wait, i think its better so.

cheating with gamma correction
btw settings is greyed out, how can i enable that gamma correction?
oh, i tried to recreate this scene on other workstation with max5.1 the porblem is search dist. and max density must be 10 times smaller (units- milimeters) and also difuse multiplier 1000 instead of 100k

You can check in your max preferences for Gamma settings to change it.
The photon parameters are based in the scene units, and usualy with meters its almost impossible to have a good detailed GI with photon mapping because of the max density.

HI Goncalo
HI Goncalo
you are punctual like a swiss watch!!
thank u for the answer to the previous question!!!!
To have better shadows details on little objects like a vase or a glass on a table inside a big room what can I use? is it better gi or photon mapping?
bye and thanks againWorkstation: Asus p9x79WS I7 3930K Noctua NH-D14@4200GHz SE2011 16GB RAM Kingston Hyperx Beast SSD 500Gb Samsung x2 SATA3 WD raid edition4 64MB GTX760 2GB DDR5 CoolerMaster 690III

Satyras - This shouldn't be the case, I only have 512RAM in my comp and it renders just fine, and I don't believe my system is paging memory to do it.
Pengo - Thank's to GoncaloP's examples I'm becoming a fan of photon mapping. I have a test scene like you describe for experimenting, large room, limited windows, a couple deviders, a few tables/chairs, and a few teapots on each table. With just irradience maps I have to turn the settings up quite high to get shadows where the teapots meat the table (all exterior lights only), but with photon mapping I get faster results and better shaddows.
One thing I found that helps is to use photon mapping for both the primary and secondary bounces, so you can see how dense your samples are, it renders very fast and so is easy to tweak, then when you are happy switch the primary bounce to irradence map.

The max density number is to to avoid memory problems.

thank u YOG
I thought that the photon was less accurate than the irradiane map!!!
you given to me another solution
