In vray material you must have reflection enabled to reflect any kind of environment. Is it at all possible to have environment reflect but all other reflections off on a particular material?

I'm sorry if I have misunderstood you, but are you are trying to reflect just the Environment Map in an object? If so, it's apparently unsupported by the Chaos Group, but this is something I've "gotten away with" in the past when I needed to do this: Use a Standard Material with Max's Raytrace Map, turn off all the raytrace options and load a bitmap in the Map Slot under Background. You will get a reflection of the Environment map in the object, but no other reflections (see attached shot). It worked for me, but as usual, YMMV.
I hope this is of some use to you,

problem with such setup is that vray frame buffer will not output render pass for standard material.Dmitry Vinnik
