  • Vray Volume Shader - Enviroment Fog\Fume FX look

    Hey gang,
I used to love Afterburn, but it's dated and not as useful anymore. I love the shading of Fume FX (smoke not fire) however, I don't always want fume simulations and often want to use particles or meshes. I came across Binary Alchemy volume shaders for mental ray, but they don't seem to work for max.

I get the impression that vray enviroment fog can do all this, but I can't seem to get a very realistic look out of it. Does anyone have an example scenes that i could look at? Also, is there any plans on supporting particles a bit better?

There are some example scenes in the V-Ray help index here: http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/150S...ronmentfog.htm

There are plans to expand support for particles, yes.

    Best regards,
    Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

If you're going to use Vray Lights or Standard Lights with VRayEnvironmentFog, try increasing the light intensity to extremely high numbers if you do not see anything. I've noticed I had to use 20,000 on my VRayLight's Multiplier when I was testing. Just a tip.
