Does 2011 save out true ScanLine Layered Exrs?

haven't seen if this has been posted before,
But just playing around with the 2011 OpenExr configuration, under the global option is has a drop down for Storage Type: Store image as Tile or Scanline

Is "Store Image as Scanlines" producing a true scanline layered exr?
