The help file - rendering a walk through animation, breaks down into 3 parts
Calculating the light cache (Light cache first and second bounce, then save it)
Calculating the irradiance map (Irmap first lload pre-saved light cache for second)
Rendering the final animation
The help file also says
There is no difference between light caches computed for primary bounces (direct visualization) and for secondary bounces. You can safely use light caches computed in one of these modes for the other.
So why calculate it separately?
where I am working we do a 2 step process
the light cache and irmap at the same time
Calculating the light cache for second bounce (fly through and save) Calculating the irradiance map for primary bounce
Then
Rendering the final animation
This is the same 2 step method outlined in the new help file entry- Rendering an animation with moving objects II
Although this is about the new animation modes for the Irmap it is a 2 step process not 3 steps like the- rendering a walk through animation Help file
This seems to work fine so is the help file- rendering a walk through animation out of date?
The same question (more or less got asked in this thread)
