When using the vraystereo helper you can directly preview the 3D in the VFB using these options. The stereo helper enforces creation of a side by side stereo image and the VFB is able to combine it into different representations.

LUTs (Look Up Tables) are used to store color transformations.

Thank you , so a pair of 3D specticals are required , ie the ones from the cinema.or different.

Colour transformation......as in the colour in the image is kept, but i thought a 16 bit or 32 bit exr keeps all the colour info?
So is the difference , and would you use this in everyday arc viz business.

it worked great, but how do you save the combined side by sides as one?

I know ... am I being thick or has this been released with no release notes.......... Dosen't make sense to spends months on features and then not to explain them.
Some people know all about them, so there must be something somewhere to explain or they are all Beta testers?
Can somebody go through the process please of using this feature.

          Thank you

I can explain the LUT one for you (well, kinda!)
A lut is a look up table that you can apply to your renders (as a preview tool, just like the exposure and curves) so that the colours you are seeing on your monitor match the colours that will be displayed on whatever output source you are using. Its part of the colour management in many (all??) films. Any compositors that have done film work will be all too aware of LUTs.
I would have loved this feature 6 months ago on a film I was working on. We ended up having to render the frames, then load them into nuke where we applied the LUT. Having it in vray would just mean being able to get the colours/levels right in vray quicker without going backwards and forwards between max and nuke
LUTs are usually created per job/per machine so everyone is looking at the same colour space.
I would say if you dont know what they are you dont need them!

For the stereo buttons you would need the corresponding coloured glasses to see the stereo effect...like these:

Im not sure how you render the side by side image into the vray VFB though.
Look up "stereo anaglyph" for more info.

                Here's a quick run-down:

                - Add the stereo helper to your scene
                - Adjust the eye distance as wanted/needed
                - Turn on "Adjust resolution" (This will automatically double the width of the rendering so you dont loose resolution)
                - Hit Render
                - You get a side by side view of your scene with the camera slightly moved
                - Turn on the corresponding Preview button in the VRay VFB and you will be able to preview it in anaglyph mode using the glasses shown above

                Regards,
                Thorsten

Make sure you have the Stereo plugin helper installed, the stereo helper in your scene and check the 'Adjust Resolution'. Render using the Vray Frame buffer, and you'll have 2 images side-by-side, you can press the red/cyan button to see it in anaglyph, but it will save as side-by-side images if you don't have this on.

It also saves as side by side if you have this button pressed. It's only a lut change, so it won't save (like the srgb button).

Does it save as an anaglyph image with you?

This is by design; I specifically did not want the image to be saved as anaglyph.
