  • Animation Question

    Hello,

I’m assuming this has been discussed in length before, however, I could not find any threads relating to it. I’m in the process of animating a scene that has lots of trees and shrubs. The Vray sun is in a position that creates long shadows. I animated a few frames but the render times are a little long. I was wondering if anyone would like to share there experience with AA and filter settings to provide the best quality to performance ratio. I realize every project is different but I just wanted to see if anything could help. I have about 15000 frames of total animation and every minute I can shave off of each frame would be a bonus.

    Thanks in advance.

    Scott

well you have to give us more details, what the frame res you are rendering at, what is the current time you have per frame, what are your settings etc.

      Hi Smalerbi,

say goodbye to short rendertimes and read the following thread:

Thanks blade, I guess I was looking for a thread like this. My Vray lingo is a bit rusty….sub-pixel settings….etc. Not sure what it means. Here are my settings anyway and yes, I do experience some flickering on the landscape geometry. I guess this would be one thing the Vray development team can work on. Developing filters that can deal with this problem.

        Thanks,

Hey Scott, every scene has its own challenges and its hard to find an ever working setup. But flickering in landscape geometry makes me wonder. I only have had the problem with the extrem fine leave details of the trees. It appeared mainly in the distance from the camera POV.

Anyway, try this settings and hopefully you are done:

          Image sampler Adaptive DMC
          Antialiasing filter Area, size 1,5
          DMC min. 3
          DMC max. 6

          DMC Sampler
          Adaptive amount 1,0
          Noise threshold 0,001

I would say the main focus have to be on DMC min. and DMC Sampler Noise threshold.

          Good luck.
