  • Indirect illumination too much colored : any solutions ?

    Hello,
I 'm a very satisfied user of vray but there is a feature that, I think, miss badly :

Most of the time I'm using irradiance map + light cache, maybe other solutions react a bit differently, but I feel the indirect illumation result is working too much on saturation/colorisation than on the luminance, for instance, if a use a very saturated blue cushion on a white sofa, the sofa is getting too much indirect blue saturation around compared to the physical reality.

In fact, I'm seeing me dreaming of an updated "VRay object properties"
Right now it has Generate GI X [1.0] and Receive GI X [1.0]
What will be useful I think would be those controls :
Generated luminance GI X [1.0] and Received luminance GI X [1.0]
Generated saturation GI X [1.0] and Received saturation GI X [1.0]
So we could act separately on saturation and luminance

What do you think ? It is already possible to do this in an other way, Would it be possible to code this ?
    Thanks

You can change the GI saturation in the post processing group of the Indirect Illumination tab of the rendersettings.
Generally you will get more natural color bouncing when using linear workflow.

Hi arnaudg, have a look at the VRayOverrideMaterial. It´s a kind of material wrapper and you can define a separate material for GI, Reflection etc.
Here is the link to the Vray help file:

Also make sure you work in Linear workflow. This way your gi looks better.

I second the Override Material... very handy for this exact situation.
