    Hi Everyone!

I recently signed up on Chaos Group forum. I have been using V-Ray for 3ds max for a short period of time and done some small projects. I have also been using Rhino + V-Ray for Rhino. Since I joined the forum I have been browsing different topics and exploring what V-Ray's all about. I must admit that since I joined the forum I´ve become totally convinced that V-Ray was the right choice for rendering engine for me in 3ds max. It´s extremely exciting to see what can be achieved with V-Ray!!!I admire all the great work that people are doing with V-Ray and sharing on the forum.

At the moment I´m doing a small job for a light manufacturer. Unfortunately I have run into trouble with the project since my skills in V-Ray are somewhat limited. I´m supposed to render a light with the LEDs turned on inside the light. I have tried every possible approach to get the light to look right when the LEDs are turned on but without success .

Can anyone give me a suggestion on how to get this working like it should (if it´s possible)? I have the light modeled and I think the model is detailed enough. To give you an idea of what I´m trying to do I´m attaching two photos of an old model, one with the lights turned on and one with the lights turned off.

Any help on what kind of approach to use in this case (lighting setup) would be appreciated!

    BR
    /Tommy

PS. Sorry for the bad quality on the photos!

The glow around the light you will have to do in some post-processing application like PhotoShop (or you can use the 3ds Max Lens Effects render element, although it may be a bit more unintuitive).

    Best regards,

if you want to be technical about it you could use displacement maps for the glass
