  • NetWork Rendering Problem... HELP..

I have been emailing with a network rendering problem... I am still having problems with network rendering in vray, I hope that someone could help me with my problem.

    1. I am trying to setup for network rendering using backburner NOT Distributed Rendering? Where I am able to send rendering jobs to the servers for rendering. While I work on other projects on my main computer.

    2. This is my setup. All the computers have 3ds Max 5.1 SP1, Win 2K SP3, DirectX 9.0a installed, Vray Advance 1.09.03g installed.

    3. I have loaded 'backburner' on all my rendering server. And loaded "manager" on my main computer. ONLY on my rendering servers, I ran DRWizard50.exe. And installed everything to boot automatically. I then double click on VRaySpawner50.exe on all the servers ONLY.

    4. At this point, I do not know if I have done the setup correctly. I went to the Render setup, check 'Net Render', and submitted the job to one of the servers. Distributed Rendering is uncheck.

It did not render correctly. There was this weird blanket shadow over my model instead. The shadows & reflections were off. But when I render straight from my main computer, it looked perfect.

    This is my network setup:

Main Server ------------ > Main Computer
    ( all max files |
    materials, and |
    HDRI images) |
    | v
    ----------------------- > Rendering Servers

As you can see, all the work files are on one server, and my main computer as well as the rendering servers could access the files. I have checked all paths, HDRI images paths, etc, all good to go. Rendering from the servers does not work, but from my main computer, it does.

    5. I even tried DR, and no reflection or materials were rendered.. just plain color.

Could someone help me, that if my setup is correct, PLEASE, or a detail walk through as to what I need to do to get my network rendering moving.

    Thank you so much.

I have concluded that it could be a possibly that the HDRI file is not loaded properly over the network. Hence causing some problem in a network rendering. Though this might seem odd, as it works fine on my work machine.

My question where can I place the HDRI image when doing network rendering? Do I place it with the Max file I am working on? In Max maps dir? anywhere?

could someone offer some advice on network rendering with vray or if it is even possible? Or does vray works only for DR?

Please help.. I need to know if vray is the best product to go with, if not, my alternate is Brazil... anyone knows the contact no. to the tech support for vray?

It works fine, the problem is not V-Ray. does it work with scanline?

scanline works fine. There is nothing wrong with my setup? It looks like when rendering, it did not pick up the HDRI file. Where do you place the HDRI file normally?
