  • sample distribution ... is it supposed to work like this ?

when rendering with gi enabled, and a max rate of 0, on the final pass the samples cluster on top of samples from the previous pass, pretty much regardless of the nrm, clr and dist settings.

also, the distribution of some of the samples at pass -1 seems unjustified, very uniform, again uninfluenced by nrm clr and dist.

i have recently u.pgraded from 1.08 to version 1.09, and previously it didn't behave like this.

here is an enlarged (2x) image of the framebuffer as it begins to render the final pass of gi.
the scene consists of basic geometry, an omni light and a skylight, no materials assigned.
i used the default render settings.

note that i have experimented amply with the color and normal thresholds, but i'm still getting these results

randomise samples under advanced irradiance map parameters is checked.
all the settings are at default values

i want to know if this is how it's intended to work or if it's something i did wrong

It works as it's intended to work... if the final result is good does it really matter how the samples are chosen?

        Best regards,

it´only matters if there is room for speed improvement.

what i really don´t know, because im not a coder.
