  • light reflection in a mirror

    hi
i was just wondering how to have reflection of the light coming from the sun in a mirror on the ground ? (if you see what i mean...)

    thanks

sounds like reflection caustic. should be possible, but as i can remember you must have a sun with high energie to get caustics from reflections

Just use direct light as the sun, enable caustics for light and in caustics rollout and it should work.

Heres an utter fake, but its functional and fast and thats usually all we're asking for!

Change your viewport to the viewpoint of your Sun.. (Right click on the viewport name and go do direct01 probably)

From there, create an omni light that is off.., From the Tools pulldown, select 'place highlight' while you have the omni light selected.. now click and drag on your mirror.. That gives you the reflection vector between the Sun/Mirror..

Now just make a secondary 'sun' in the shape of the mirror.. with the target pointing at the omni light you just made..
