  • DR Question..

I Know this is probably in the manual but i have a question about DR rendering.
If i have 2 Machines both identical (2x2800AMD's) can i render on one screen with 4 Buckets or do i need 3 machines.

    Thanx

No sorry i didnt explain myself
you have a master machine and the render slave.......
does the master also render ......... so if i have three machines do i get 6 buckets, or just four, but it is renderered on the master machine.....

so in other words do i need to buy a new machine to get the full advantage of vray's DR Rendering.

      just wondering...

As for now they all must calculate there own, It has been stated that this will change.

                  Small correction:
If you set the IR map calculation to Bucket mode, the systems don't need to calculate it all separately, but the IR is calculated at the bucket level.

                  Disadvantage:
It may be possible to have colour/light differences between buckets rendered by different systems.

                  Advantage:
I had cases where old systems were still calculating the IR map, while the new system chew all the buckets..
If you have a mixed render farm with old and newer systems, the slower systems will not be penalized as much if you use the bucket mode.

It would be interesting to see what the time difference is between bucket mode and Single Frame Mode, when you have identical systems. I have a feeling the Single Frame mode will be faster, but I'm unable to verify this...

Yes, I was going to go into that but it is my experience that the regions are almost always slightly different. Good for testing though.
