  • Saving combined stereo images from VFB

Is there a way to save the combined left/right channels in 1 image rather than the normal left/right?

I don't think so, but I can't understand for the life of me why you can't.

why not? Imagine all the overtime you can claim
yes for animation it's a huge problem, but for small stills it's a "quick fix"

For batch conversions, you can use some free software for assembling anaglyph images from the left and right views; someone suggested StereoPhoto Maker (http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/stphmkr/)

As for the V-Ray VFB, I'm thinking how best to organize this; some option is needed to tell the VFB whether the image should be saved as stereo anaglyph or not, but I can't decide yet where to put this option...

            Best regards,

Vlado, could it just be in the stereo helper as a drop down?
              Render left/right
              Render top/bottom
              Render combined

No, because V-Ray can't render both images combined at the same time (it would mess up the AA anyway); they are only blended in the VFB.

If you output a sequence of anaglyph images and then import into aftereffects, is there an aftereffects parameter that can blend them ? Then you could just render back out from aftereffects...as long as you saved your images with sequential names.

Im not if this is possible of course...
                  Regards

now Sony Vegas Studio 10 Pro does a great job for stereoscopy... I've tested the demo and you can watch the anaglyph image on the main monitor ad a side by side image on an external 3d TV switching the 3d side by side option....it works great.
Vegas 10 is the only cheap software that can do 3d video editing, you can add text and adjust the parallax. You can save a side by side movie or anaglyph...and many more options. I opened a 32bit exr vray rendered sequence without problems.
                    It's on my purchase list.
Stereoscopy is the future (present) of 3d computer graphic.
