  • Flat plane in scene, with no lighting effects? How?

    Hi all,

In an arch visualization interior scene, I have a Plane object standing up in the middle of the floor.

I need to make it appear that it was dropped into the scene without affecting anything, except that it will reflect on a reflective floor. It will not cast shadows, it should not receive any light from the scene.

Mostly, I need the simple image that is mapped to the plane to be completely unchanged by the scene. With the exception of the reflection on the floor, it should appear that it was quickly dropped into the render using Photoshop.

Is there a simple way to accomplish this? All of my tests seem to be slightly changing the color of the image on the plane, even when all lights have been checked to "exclude" the Plane object. I need the color of the image on the plane to be completely, perfectly unchanged.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    Sincerely,
    Tim

How about giving it a standard max material with 100% self illumination?

And then turn off 'cast shadows' and 'receive shadows' in the object properties, and 'generate GI' and 'receive GI' in the vRay properties.

I haven't got max open to test it right now, but off the top of my head, that seems like it might do the trick.

    Cheers,

    John
