VRay distance texture

I add VRay displacementmod to a plane, add a box, put VRaydistancetex to a plane, but nothing happens. It act on black and white color as far and near in the texture, but didnt do falloff by the distance (box is selected), only whole plane stay in position or go high by displacement, but didnt do falloff by distance from a box, as we can see at siggraph.

Add the box to the include list at the bottom of the distanceTex parameters.

Are you using 3D mapping in the displacement?, I don't think 2D works.

Does VRaydistancetex work by 2.0 BETA1 correctly?

It seems to be a camera space.

It seems to be working in camera space right now... it is already fixed for Beta 2.

It works in beta 2, but I put some textures in far and near slots and this textures is not visible, not render.

I tried gradient and then noise too. Nothing happens.
I wanna make smooth edges (like in sample scene from Siggraph presentation, dont know if there are another better way, please tell us) so tried gradient, but nothing happens, so tried noise and one more texture, but with same result.

For the SIGGRAPH presentation, I put the VRayDistanceTex inside an Output map and played with the output curves. Not sure what you are trying to do with the gradient.

Just the smooth fade from near to far. Because now with just only black and white I get a sharp result. I try your idea.
But still textures didnt work
