  • Custom V-ray proxy previews

    Hi

Has anyone got any idea if it is possible to script a custom V-ray proxy preview? For example if you were to create a V-ray proxy of a hi-poly tree and then try to preview it, you can only choose from bounding box, point, or a number of random faces. What I really would like to do is to be able to have a low-poly object of the tree saved in the proxy file for preview purposes. Similar to what I have been using with Renderman.
It would just be an extra Display mode, also on another note it would be great to have the abilty to disable animated proxy updates in the viewport.

    Thanks

In V-Ray 2.0, you can choose any custom mesh to be used as a preview for the proxy when you create it.

Thanks for the pointer on disabling animated previews; will mark it as a feature request.

    Best regards,
    Vlado
