  • What am I doing wrong (Z-depth)?

I'm trying to render an EXR with a Z-depth channel and it just isn't working. I have VRayZDepth enabled in the render elements, and I can view the Z channel in the VRay Frame Buffer. But whether I give the file an EXR in the frame buffer, or if I do it with the converter, I get squat.

Could you define "squat" ? And how do you check the z-depth ?

      "Squat" means "nothing".

To check to see if it worked I tell vrimg2exr to convert all elements to individual exr files. All it will give me is RGB and alpha.

And I also check the EXR by simply opening it with "View Image File..."

@yoyoboy can you explain how as I am having the same trouble.
If I save out the vrimg I only get the rgb and alpha (no vrayzdepth or multimatte which are visible in the VFB). -info on vrimg2exr only sees 2 channels also.

ok _ figured it out also - you need to specify in the VFB options for it to "Render to a raw image file"
If you just render into the VFB and then save to a .vrimg you don't get the additional channels (could this be a bug?)
