  • Blend background

    Hi guys,

What is your usual way of blending background to your renders? So far I have found that I shouldn't use vraysky, or any other kind of GI generating background in MAX environment (it should be black) and only use vray override. Otherwise blending in PS leaves white edges. Still, when I'm doing interiors, I have problems with glass on the windows. If in PS I use defringe glass area gets screwed up. Do you put your bitmap objects with background texture in MAX or in PS in post. I prefer post since I have more control but then am left with not so nice blend.

Normally I would have the background as a texture on a plane so that you dont get problems with aliasing etc. If you are outputting an alpha then you need to use remove white/black matt rather than defringe. This should make the edges of your leaves better. Rendering out larger and reducing down helps with getting better edges also.

If I have an exr that has "embedded" alpha, can I extract it from it? I mean I have exr image, and if I go to channels in PS there is no alpha, but exr DOES have transparency where it should. Is there a way to create an alpha channel from it?
