  • Baseball Wrap

I'm looking for suggestions on how to wrap a thin cylinder with the leather, seams and stitching of a major league baseball. I started modeling the seams but the more I think about it, this seems like a long, tedious process. Think of the attached image as being flattened opposed to circular. I would appreciate any thoughts. Thank you.

Grabbed from a model off of Google Wherehouse. You should be able to just apply it to a sphere. No mapping required.

Since the object is disk shaped and not spherical, I decided to create individual maps and apply those to the object. I would have really liked to model all of the pieces, but that would have been a huge headache. I'm thinking of experimenting with unwrapping the geometry and trying to apply the textures that way. That might be the easiest way to get all of the seams to line up. Thanks for the suggestion though.
