        Can't be black(what about black metalic? ), but I'll give a go with density, will it free memory from creating flakes map too?

          Sure can be black...with a black metallic paint the FLAKE colour is still not black, as black flakes on black ground would be pretty much invisible :P
          Setting the color to black removes the flakes definitly. I still wonder why you'd use a carpaintMtl tho when you dont need the flakes ??

            If you don't want the flakes then just make a blend material... The whole reason for the CarPaintMtl is having the flakes which help simulate the physical properties of carpaint more accurately.
