  • quick question about incremental Nth frame rendering...

    Hey there --

I'm attempting to use the "incremental nth frame" method for creating a master irradiance map for an animation. I was wondering: can I create that initial irradiance map through a network render? In other words, Ive set vray to render every 10th frame and am saving the map to a single file. I was just unsure if this was going to work, if the file is being created by multiple machines.

    Thanks,

    David Hitt

im not 100% but i think you have to calc your Imap with 1 pc then do the animation with the saved map with all pc's....

      It might be right.

Pre-caching the imap by using a tweak such as Nth frame will spare you time but *perhaps* not some render bugs, because you *may* miss some serious info at certain frames.
From my experiments, 5th ou 10th frames was a good deal though.

Just ensure you that you share the imap correctly to all your render farm. I can't remember if the UNC path bug is closed or not.

          thanks for the advice...

Okay, I appreciate everyone's advice on this issue. I think, to be on the safe side, I'll stick with just the incremental add approach...

Egz : What bug was that?
If I remember correctly, it was a case when path to cached imap was shared by using an UNC network path instead of a common linked network drive letter.
