  • FumeFX Render Elements support...

Does Vray 2.0 support Fusion Works render elements from fume like Final Render does?
This means getting floating point fire smoke and velocity elements?
This would be very useful and is actually becoming a reason we might swap to final render for fume intense jobs.

Haven't tested it myself, so I can't really answer. I guess it depends on how FumeFX writes to these render elements. V-Ray does not support the internal 3ds Max render elements pipeline, since it's too limited for what we need, so some V-Ray specific code might be necessary, if Sitni Sati are inclined to add it. I know they do special things for finalRender; whether they want to do special code for other render engines is up to them.

Anyways, will see if we can get a version to test here.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

Hmm - quite an old ad, might actually predate fume. DD have their own voxel renderer called storm. Apparently before that they had voxel bitch, and before that cloud bastard

Thanks Vlado, that would be great to have. I would much prefer to render our fume out of Vray as Vray motion blurs atmospherics correctly and our team is alreadywell versed with Vray, but not being able to get 3D motion blured mattes in the render elements is a bit of a deal breaker!

(Would love to know if this is possible asap as we are making a big puchace decision within the next week for a big fume project!)

Yep, I'm trying to organize an exchange of NFR versions with Kresimir...

                Best regards,

Would it be possible to get the new Light Select Render element pass to work with a fume container, so you can isolate the GI generated from the fire?

Any progress on this issue? Also, worth a mention, the REs would need to have the same camera motion blur as the render (I know the internal movement of the FumeFX will not get motion blur)

Yep, I got a NFR version of FumeFX from Kresimir. It is not too hard to make this work. Camera motion blur will work fine.

                      Best regards,
                      Vlado

So this is done now for V-Ray 2.0; I can probably port it back to the V-Ray 1.5 branch although it will be a bit more work. In any case, please email me to vlado@chaosgroup.com so that I can get you the update.

                              Best regards,
