  • best way to install vray 1.5 and vray 2.0 on one workstation

    HI,

i going to upgrade to vray 2.0 for a new job thats coming, but still have old projects done with vray 1.5 to finish.
whats the best way to run both version on my workstation at the same time ?

    thank you,
    Markus

If you use different versions of 3dsmax then you can, otherwise opening a project from 1.5 and rendering in 2.0 will result in only minor minor differences, only thing is slightly longer render times in some cases because Vray 2.0 is sampling correctly in dark areas.

ok.. but sending a vray2.0 file to my client who is on vray 1.5 will give me a hard time, right ?

If you don't use any specific Vray 2.0 features then you should be fine. I've sent vray2.0 files to a vray1.5 render farm and had no issues. Obviously if you put something new like a VrayLight_select render element then it will give a dll error.

sure- thats clear... but good to hear, that if you avoid the new features you can open the files in vray1.5 .
          thanks dave!
