  • Light Cache value for high resolution images

    Hi!

Just and advice: I've to render an image at the resolution 8800x5000px.

I've red somewhere that the Light Cache value should be more or less like the higher resolution number, in my case "8800", is it true? Or it is too much high value?

For this scene I use Light Cache "Screen" (not World) with a value of 0.02

    Thanks a lot.

I never heard that before. I've renderered some pretty big scenes before and never used anything more than 2000. That being said it really depends on your scene also.
    Kind Regards,
    Morne

This is true only if you are using the "Progressive path tracing" mode of the light cache. For stills, the subdivs depend on the illumination complexity, not on the resolution. For fly-through animation, they also depend on how long the camera path is.

Ah well... iuuuu.. happy to know

This mean that for my Interior Scene (a common interior scene with only planar VrayLights on windows) at a resolution of 8000x5000 a value of 2000 subdivs on the light cache (IM+LC) should be a good start point.
