I switched to using UNC naming for textures as I was having problems with VRay and distributed rendering otherwise (textures going missing on some servers. )
The trouble is that now I am having problems loading textures into the material editor with UNC naming activated. The files show up in the browser, I can see them in the texture loader but max doesn't find them when I actually select and then try to load them. I can see the textures using UNC in explorer, and I can also load them without issue in max using the View Image File tool, for example, but I can't consistently load them as a texture. Anyone seen this before? A quick search didn't find anyone with a similar complaint.
Notes: The UNC filepath well under 260 characters and the this problem happens in both slate/compact material edtior and it affects all filetypes.
