Thanks Bobby for the nice tutorial. I have one question though. You mention that in your gamma settings you set the bitmap output as 1.0 so that you don't double burn the gamma. But then in your Vray frame buffer you apply the gamma curve and burn it in. What is the difference between the two? I use exactly the same setting you show in the tutorial except my bitmap output gamma is 2.2 so that when I bring it into Photoshop it looks the same as it does in my Max frame buffer (I don't use the Vray frame buffer). Am I missing something?

When I open the exr in PhotoShop it applies the Srgb profile, which applies its own curve. I suppose I could set MAX's gamma profile to output 2.2 and open the EXR without a color profile. I am not sure the vrimg takes into account MAX's output profile, it might. I guess you can accomplish the same thing in several ways, which is part of peoples confusion.

I do know that the MAX frame buffer already has 2.2 applied (gamma preferences). In the V-Ray frame buffer you have to enable it via the Srgb button or you apply the curve.

Is there a way to see more of hdri map? I mean I have to change focal lenght or something to see more of hdri in a background. But what if i dont want to change this? I can move camera back but still see same crop of hdri. Is there a way to fix this and have hdri map still as background (VRay dome light)?

It has everything to do with the HDRI? I like hdri-locations because I can use them for reflection and a background. Some HDRI's you have to use a background plate for a background.
