re
Marlin's People in motion is probably your best bet, although Character studio can be used fairly quickly...it doesn't take long to bone a simple character mesh. You could import people from poser, assign the phsique modifier...apply footsteps in whatever direction. Disregard everything I've said if you're working in Viz.Indecisive archictects will be the death of us all.

It's called Body Studio, it's a plugin for max. U can find more details here:

prey1979,
you bring up a good point...the Marlin P-I-M can be labor intensive and not worth the money if you have to keyframe the board you have the map on to rotate to a position that matches your camera movement. Also they tend to jump off the ground too much. Because there is no perfect solution we use PIM for quick and good enough results to get the point across...not my ideal choice.

i just curious though since these marlin people are just opacity mapped planes how can i get it if the camera turns that they dont look like animated knife edges?
basically it makes the plane face your camera regardless of where u move it.

I have to say that I think Marlin people are a good choice if you are going for photoreal although the camera moves are limited. Also it works well if you hide their feet behind something like a bench, plant or ... I haven't tried it but they may render faster if you use displacement instead of opacity.
