  • PPT vs RT

apart from supported features, is there any point doing an undistributed PPT render, when i can use my gpu and other machines to do an RT job? seems to use a similar technique but can be distributed..

PPT supports features like displacement, motion blur, fur etc. which are not currently supported by V-Ray RT (but will be at some point). PPT through the light cache might also give somewhat better light distribution for interior scenes, because it can handle multiple bounces more efficiently (but then again, if you are using multiple machines for V-Ray RT, this may not be as important).

Is there any way to distribute ppt?

Looks really nice to use it but it would be the perfect way to render if we could use multiple computers?

ahh its almost always better to use other methods.. its not particularly adaptive even with "adaptive" turned on so youll have way bigger rendertimes than necessary.. distribution or not.

you could possibly do a seperate render on each renderbox, and then merge them over each other in photoshop.. since the random noise will be different in each one (? never tried this) you will overall gert a less noisy image.

The only way right now is what super gnu suggested - render images on different machines with different noise patterns, and then blend them together. I posted a small program for blending a number of images a while back on the forum... blend_img or something like that.
