  • Distributed Render - Mixed License Versions = no good?

We have two 3ds Max Design 2011 workstations, and one render node.

    Workstation A – Vray 2.00.02 (Licensed)
    Workstation B – Vray 1.5 (Licensed)
Render Node – Vray 2.00.02 (NOT Licensed – just a render node)

Distributed Rendering is working fine on the 2.0 systems, but the 1.5 system holds onto its buckets (see the attached screen capture - ignore the missing maps - I haven't copied them over to the workstation yet). After waiting a couple of minutes, I canceled the render.

For distributed rendering to work, do all of the computers assigned to the Distributed Render farm need the same version of Vray installed? The help file says the following, so we weren't expecting to upgrade the other station just yet...

"While there are new features in V-Ray 2.0, we have tried to keep the compatibility with older V-Ray versions where this is possible."

I received a response from Chaosgroup regarding this matter, and it seems each computer in the DR farm needs the same version installed to render properly.
