  • glossy reflection & background

    just made some tests.

it seems the background is not blurred by the glossy reflection..

a checker map screen mapped is not, but a checker map zylindrical mapped is?

    looks strange to me!

    did i miss something?

I don't think you use screen mapping for creating reflections? If you want to, set the max environment to screen mapping and put a spherical or cilindrical map into the vray reflection slot override.

if you do architectural renderings, i put the background of the site in the env and background slot. so i have reflections in glas aso.. but now that i used glossy reflections on a alumionium cladding for the first time, i discovered this effect..

If you do what flipside says it will work.

Screen mapped environments don't work well for reflections, since they will always seem projected from the camera. So put a copy of the map in the VRay environment overrride slot, and set it to spherical environment mapping.
