  • Is there a way to make a vray light material reflect?

I have tried blending with a reflective coat, but no luck

well, it should be working that way.. maybe the light mat is so bright you can't tell any reflection?

perhaps, but the point is for it to be bright. It is just set at 1, nothing crazy.

of course, I see. anyway, it seems to work as expected here, light mat as base, and vray mat as reflective coating.

if its pure white (or brighter) i dont think its possible for it to have a reflection... as reflections are additive, and you cant add anything to pure white. (within the confines of an 8 bit display of course)

I acctually have a texture map in the color slot. Its a yellow gradient with no pure white.

I've just finished a job that required something similar - blending with additive mode should work fine. Can you post the file?

Do you mean the max file or the mat file?

I turned the light down to .8 and am now getting reflections. I want the dang thing bright though and casting light

looks like additive mode did the trick! The reflections are fairly subtle, but it brightened up the light as well...thanks!
