      jamination:

I don't think that reflect/refract exclusion is a feature yet. If I remember, someone has mentioned the checkboxes in the object properties just cause problems like you've described.

Yes that is kind of a bug, but some people use this bug to let GI light pass through the object I believe.

problems? bug? its neither of these. GI is a secondary visability in raytracing. Reflections and Refractions are also secondary visibilities. Which means that the they are all linked. Its been like this for the mental ray connection as well. I think i remember vlado saying he knows a way to disconnect the one from the other though

but in mental ray there is a way (albeit not obvious) to get around this.

I can produce the opposite of what you're after. I can get an object to reflect, without being included in the G.I. solution.

Vlado mentioned to me to turn the object off during the IRMAP calc. Set the object to not generate or receive G.I., then turn it back on again when it comes time to render. I use this technique for reflecting objects in my glass and metal. It's weird, but it works for me.
