    Guys
    does anyone know a quick answer to stop objects looking like they are floating from the floor eg.... floor with column on it .......cant seem to create nice shodows round it ?
    ive tried everything to try to stop this but cant find the answer.

    some time ago.. (not in a far galaxy) a think Flipside made a complete resume of the things you can do to solve that problem, with a lots of screen, some with rounded corner, some flat but with high setting, etc. Try looking that tread, its was very complete.

      lkift them up a little. not very much, just enough to create a little shadow

          chamfer the edge a little. u can read flipside's research at vray.info

            chamfering or beveling gives similar results for the shadows, but of course a bevel looks a bit nicer on the object than a chamfer (but more polys)
