URGENT removing Vray plugin ?

I'm sitting here onsite with a problem that i need to have a clean max file.
My typical trick of merging and resaving the file does not work for the Vray plugin. It remains hidden in the file.
The software that uses the file may NOT have any error dialog boxes ( missing plugin) to popup, so i need to remove the Vray plugin from this file.
Can anyone advise me how to remove the plugin from the 3dsmax file??

im not sure what u mean ...... do you want to remove vray from you system or is it a max file that is looking for vray ??

cant you open the file in max .......change the renderer and the vray lights and materials and then resave the file as a standard scanline max file?

natty, thanks for the indirect hint.
I solved the problem by removing the references to Vray in the render engine selection. I totally forgot about that...
on to work now..
