  • Problem with HDRI

Hi , I'm Giovi from Italy
I have a problem in Vray 1.09.02 q with Max 5.0 and HDRI.

    Procedure :
1 I put Vray HDRI map into Enviroment Skylight Vray with on
    override Max's.
2 Drag this map in a free slot of material editor and them
    I select a file.hdr
3 Drag this map again into Rendering/Enviroment/Enviroment map
    with on use map.
    4 Rendering

When I render I take a lot of Effect Noise on all objects and on plane
    of my scene. Why?
What 's wrong about my settings?
    Can you help me ?
    Thank you very much

I followed your instructions step by step and it works perfect here, no noise at all.
Did you select a correct Map type of the VRayHDRI material?

And why don't you upgrade to the latest version of VRay? Yours is very outdated, the current version is 1.09.03i (or 1.09.03h for demo).

        Hi, I'm Giovi

I' dont understand about "Make sure It's not screen mapped that will cause high noise on all objects in my scene" .
        Can you explain me ?
I would like to know if Is it possible that this version (Vray 1.09.02q) makes bugs when I use HDRI?

        Thanks

your hdri must be Enviroment mapped and not screen mapped.
why are you using an old version of vray ?

            Hi, I'm Giovi again
Sorry but I don't understand what do you tell me.
Can you send me some images about your settings, because I don't
understand the difference about "enviroment mapped" and "screen mapped".
I have only this version "Vray 1.09.02q".
Where can I find last updating ?
            Thanks and sorry again

                      Hi , I'm Giovi again
I would like to know only if this version doesn't make any bugs with
HDRI or I 'm making a mistake in my settings.
It's my personally curiosity. Only curiosity. OK

                      Thanks again

Well, try downloading the demo version 1.09.03h at http://www.vrayrender.com/demo/ and see what happens...
It's hard to tell without knowing your actual VRay and scene settings.

                          Hi,
Thank you for your link but I'm not interested about "1.09.03h".
My interest was only the problem with HDRI and 1.0902q.
                          Good bye .........

well. lets see. that was a loooooong time ago. and more than likely, there might have been some bugs. so maybe HDRI was one of the bugs. So, to correct that, you should update to the latest version at the before mentioned site
a: i think you might be needed to drag that map back to your environment override slot though. that might be one of your problems. and always remember to use instance when copying it.
b: Update your scene to the latest version. Some people are more forward. but im trying my best not to jump up and down and point a finger singing "he has a crack copy, he has a crack copy". But your situation and you unexplained reluctance to update to the latest copy leads us to certain assumptions. Since you seem to be the only one who is experiencing this, it might be an isolated case with your "real" copy. And you might want to send either an image or a scene file to vlado who will be the best person to help you out.
