  • Backlight shader

    Hello!
Is it possible to create material, whose shader will be similar to this backlight shader of maya?
    http://www.3dluvr.com/pixho/tutorial..._tutorial.html

I'm doing human skin material and also need to see how to create skin material in max. Any links about skin very appreciated.

Try in Vray Material translucent or SSS. You will find more on this on Vray.info webside.

For the first question If understood u, simply use fallof map with shadow/ light option, then you'll see what comes up, there are some options, tweak.

hmmm there is even an easier way, just set a very slight self illuminaton value. Here is an animation>
            http://losbellos.artshost.com/earth.htm ~500kb swf
if u want this just set self illuminatin to 3,3,3 thats it.

Maybe the other way look better (shadow/light) use dark earth map for shadow use lightened for light. Dont know.
Tweak. But little self illumintaion will be needed anyway so, sorry for the firs post I didnt think further.

actually u could also put an other light with no shadows option and with a very little multiplier. Now I go and see some image how it really look like by the way

              edit:
so here is the other one it looks better I think,
              http://losbellos.artshost.com/earth2.htm
I used two lights but on the opposite sides. And they rotate alwasy staying 180deegree forward from each other. I think this is the best solution.
              The above is the easier
