  • displacement and GI solution question

Ok here's something I run into:

I render the imap + direct illumination solution in single frame with displacement off in the main switch panel, and then save it and reused
by turning ON displacemt with the saved imap - well the shadows look really weird and I start to get light leaks where i didn't have before -

does that mean that I should render my Gi solution (imap) w/ displacement on to take that into consideration??

    thanks,

    paul.

PS; also a strange thing I found is that displacement seems to have problems when applied to referenced (copy-reference) objects - it screws up the the whole scene - have any of you have problems w/ that??

If displacement is on, your geometry changes, so you need to recalculate the IR map.

Also about light leaks, make sure that by turning on displacement, there are nog grooves (for example on a tile floor) that become lower than the bottom side of the wall that rests on it.
