  • HELP> with network rendering.

OK. I hv to render 2400 frames of a very complicated scene. So Im network rendering them using 6 machines. BUT when I compile the renderings together, the shadows dun match, hence the animations flickers like krazeeeee.

Why is it acting this way? Is it because each of the slave machines come out with different GI calculation maybe? Or what? I tried using SINGLE and INCREMENTAL frames mode, but both dun work. I also tried saving the solution, hoping that I can recycle it with the slaves, but the renderings are all messed up, colors of all sorts appear at random places.

Please advice what Im doing wrong. I hv a deadline pretty soon. This is my first try at VRAY, been using Lightscape and scanline rendering in the past.

    HELP HELP!!!

We had the same problem to start with, basically each machine calculates the GI a little differently.

    Here is what we do....

    1. Do a precalc using one machine,
Set to render every 10th frame, we do the renders at 100x75 on medium animation and it works fine
set ' incremental add to current map'
set 'on render end' to save the map.

    2. Once the precalc is finished set the Advanced irradiance map params to' from file ' and load up your calc map.

    3. Set the render size, etc

Then send to all machines, this should work fine and render fast.....

    Good luck..

OK thanks. I hope this will work.
Im rendering at every 100th frame (320 x 240) for the precalc.
Hopefully the .vrmap solution file will work on the slave machines. I tried doing something similar before but the colors are all jacked up.

Perhaps every 100th frame is not enough, 20 or 30 seems to work pretty well for most cases.

            still not working

i tried every 20th frame at 100x75 pix, but still not working, the blue patches are still there. will increasing the pix size to...say 320 x 240 do any good to the pre-calc solution? or is there any adjustments i can make to the road (asphalt) material to make it render properly?
            help
            thanks

I have never seen anything quite like that, try applying a plain vraymtl to it and see if it still occurs, If it does than make sure and read thru the Splotches topic in Tutorials.

Just out of curiosity are there any moving objects or lights in the animation? If so EACH frame has to have a new IR calc or you have to use Direct Comp.

                Just a thought,
