  • 2 machines slower than 1

    hi there,
i am rendering a scene from an irradiance map and the
client (2.8 GHz Xeon) is rendering the final image faster
alone than with help of the server (2 x 1.4 GHz Athlon)
does the distribution take so much time?

I'm assuming you are talking about DR here?
What kind of rendertimes are you looking at? If a frame is very quick to render on a single system, the extra time spent on network traffic will make it slower with DR. With times going above 40-50 seconds you will start seeing improvements though.

Plus you probably dont have the main machine rendering parts also.. it can help a lot..

i just tried a large picture that took 22 min. with DR and 26 min. on single machine. (client 2.8 xeon / server 2x1.4 athlon)

i wonder if the client is rendering at all
do i have to put the client into the list?
        does it render anyway?

i put the client into the server list, when starting to render
it says "connect timeout" for this machine.

DR is still a little tricky for me
