  • Spherical camera

Many months ago I did a project that used VRay's Spherical camera type. I thought it did a very nice (though slightly exagerated) simulation of a real-world camera.

I did a re-rendering of that scene today and the Spherical camera made it come out squashed!

Is there a bug or a setting-tweak I should know about?

There was a bug in VRay's spherical camera (when mapped back as a spherical environment, it was distorted). This has been corrected so your rendering will look different. However since some users found the "buggy" version actually useful, we will be adding it as a new camera type in one of the future builds.

    Best regards,

I was dissapointed in the change too. The current version may be "correct" as a utility for spherical maps, but it definately does not project like a real camera lens. Adding the old one back would be great. I definately prefer curved perspectives to the "old-school" angular ones that arch\viz people tend to favour.
