  • VRay vs Piranesi

    Hi, people!
I was wondering if there's a way to get a VRay rendered scene exported to Piranesi in a way the file keeps the depth info from 3D... I normally have no problem exporting a scene rendered with scanline, but when I use VRay it comes out totally flat. Is that a fact or just me?

It is not you, it doesn't support the depth info. I too would like to see it implemented.

Just render your scene with scanline ( materials, lights and stuff might change for that ) for the depth data.

render the VRay version for the Color or RGB data.

in piranesi open the scanline version and then change the RGB Channel to the VRay render.

          hope this helps.

          Regards,
          Bakbek.

did you try turning on the z-buffer and using rpf or rla?

              Hi there Eloy
Not sure about your scene style, but the following will work for most architectural ones (that are going the Photoshop route, not Piranesi): Its a PSD plugin that will save objects to different layers in PSD format. Not sophisticated and feature rich like cebas psd manager, but... you get what you pay for...

However, for real depth you'll have to look somewhere else.
              Good luck.

out of curiousity- how do you like piransei in comp to deeppaint? Do they operate completely different? I take it that it doesn't allow for the reimport of painted geometry...

Well, guess Piranesi isn't exactly "loved" around here...hehehe
Anyway, thanks for the replies. I was really curious about it, not for being a heavy Piranesi user, but for being unable to get it to work with VRay.

bakbek: That's quite an interesting workaround. Looks like the way ArchiCAD exports to Piranesi. Thanks!

                  Da_elf: I tried, but it didn't work.

bigcahunak: Good to see you here, buddy ! I'm checking that link you posted out. You know I normally go for PS to create NPR, but it's always good to have more options. Thanks!!!

[b]jujubee:{/b] I've never used Deeppaint (although heard lots about it)...
