  • Large textures "passing out" with false colors

Is this a memory or a licensing issue? It happens frequently that VRay just can't deal with textures larger than -say- 4K in conjunction with other textures. It seems to have a very low overall "memory budget" regarding textures, as it seems.

Can anyone please enlighten me what to do about it other than just to keep on shrinking down my textures till it hurts??

    Cheers!

I can't give you a solution else than cut your textures in size.
We had the same problem starting around bitmaps 3000x3000...

To fit your resolution, you may use composite to add 4, 9, 16 bitmaps on the same object (size cut by 2, 3, 4, for exemple, using UV offset).

By the way, keep in mind your pixel/texel ratio.
How many pixels rendered by how many pixels in the textures, ie. size of the object in your renderer.

People tend to overestimate the texture sizes. It's pointless to have 20 pixels in a texture filtered to obtain 1 pixel in your render, till you don't zoom strongly on the object of course...

Hi there Shloerby, long time - no see...

Try set bitmap-filtering to None. Works almost every time...

Yes, set Image sampling to none or paramide and install the patch.
          No problems ever here...
