  • just bought VRAY and have a problem...

This problem didnt happen in the demo but when I installed the advanced version this morning it happened.

When I place an image like a jpg in the environment slot Vray advanced renders out the image really bad. Just wondering if I'm missing a setting. How can I get it to just render out the background without affecting the background image itself.

    to clarify...

the background image when rendered looks like its a 16 bit color image.

I'm using Viz 4 - installed the Max 4 advanced VRAY

I placed a jpg of an image I took in the Common Parameters - Environment Map slot - checked Use Map.

Opened Vray - changed the current rendered to VA.

Immediatly the material slots in the material editor change to vray.

They go from smooth gray (scanline) to bands of color making up the gray ( as in a bad 16 bit color setting).

No lights are set up - set default , 2 light setup

When rendered, both my materials and my environment render out in this bad 16 bit color - the demo didnt do this - just when I installed the AVray.

not sure what to do - or how to fix this rendering and display problem.

I wish I could post an image - dont have a website to upload to....

Sounds like a Authorization problem, you should probably contact the guys for a new code.
