  • Buckets get displaced in DR

I let this animation run last night. It got through 500 or so frames. It looks good for about 300 frames, but DR starts displacing buckets slightly and towards the end it is rendering buckets of the frame totally in the wrong area. I am using six dual PIII 1Ghgz with 1.5gigs of ram on each. My Image sampler is set to simple two level with base subs @ 1 and fine subs @ 4 with default threshold. the ir map was pre calced at ntsc 720x486 @ medium animation pre sets every 15 frames. Help

Did you render the animation in normal network mode (frame-by-frame) or with DR? What region sequence did you choose (top->bottom, left->right, spiral)?

    Best regards,
    Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

Thanks for replying vlado. I ran another test last night and it appears as if the buckets get displaced only around the time of the pool water appearing. The pool water material I have is a standard max mat with vray map in reflect. I could not get a vray material to look quite right.

Oh yea, I rendered with the built in DR in the Vray dialuoge box. And the region sequence is standard left to right and top to bottom.

After a week of trial and error, it turns out the raytraced max materials with vray map in the reflect slot does not work with DR and animation. After removing the few max materials I had it appeared to fix the problem. When I use DR one computer always takes a little longer to prep frame, objects, calc raytraces and computer IR map. This computer appears to render buckets from the frame that all the other computers have already finished. So its buckets ruin the frame. After the first frame they all get on the same page. That is for only about 300 frames or 3-4 hours then some computers get bogged down and start rendering buckets from the wrong frame. So every 300 frames I have to shut down all computers and restart the DR process. It a problem because I have to get up at night every three hours go to the office. Help Vlado
